Students sharing their blog posts about physiology

This is a Sophomore-level core biology course that provides an introduction to principles of physiology. This is a lecture-only course for 45-60 students each semester.

I struggled at first to find a lecture format that followed a good pace but that all students could see and access. I ended up combining the older "chalk talk" format with the document camera, such that I provided blank slides for students and filled them in by hand during lecture. This allowed us all to walk through blank versions of the figures and helped guide students to learn what to take notes on.

This course is also part of the University's writing enriched curriculum program, where students complete a project to find and integrate scholarly and non-scholarly sources into a blog post about a physiological topic.

Students have appreciated my ability to simplify difficult concepts and make them more approachable.
